Tybee Island

Did you see Mylie Cyrus's movie "Last Song"? We enjoyed it. She did a good job with it. I got to wondering where it had been filmed since I saw the famous Spanish Moss in the trees. When I found out the church was on Tybee Island near Savannah GA I wanted to go see it.

Apparently, the City of Tybee has bought it and will be turning it into a wedding chapel. I expected to see it in is "repaired" form. In the movie it had caught on fire and at the end it was restored with a beautiful stained glass window. If you look close you can see "burn" on the top and bottom of the steeple in the upper left hand corners.

It turned out there was a lot of things to see and do on Tybee Island. You were guided by green turtles around town.

Georgia's oldest and tallest lighthouse is on Tybee Island. Nearby was an old bunker which is being used today as a museum.

We had lunch at the Crab Shack. It was one of the best seafood restaurants we have gone to. They do not fry any of their fish. It is either grilled, broiled or baked. Cool! It was also a restaurant you could bring your boat into for lunch.

Additionally, on another island near Tybee Island is Fort Pulaski. It is the only fort I have seen that has a moat around it. It was built to guard the river approaches to Savannah GA in the early the 1800s.

I cannot keep from wondering if the people who live here are named FROG!!

Lots of birds as always.

And, lots of places to shop.
